This is the story of The Quarry in La Quinta. Throughout history there have been visionaries who saw things differently than most of us. The Quarry in La Quinta is a perfect example of this phenomenon. This is it story. Tucked in a scenic cove between the foothills of the Coral and Santa Rosa Mountains in the eastern part of the Coachella Valley was an abandoned sand and gravel pit that for more than half a century had been mined by the County of Riverside to extract materials for building local roads. It was a working quarry until the late 1980’s. Founder Bill Morrow was introduced to acclaimed golf course architects and designer Tom Fazio. With The Quarry, Tom had both an amazing site and a group of committed individuals who set the tone. Construction began in June 1993 with Opening Day January 1, 1994.
